Overview
SteamID.com Automated HLTV is an enhanced HLTV Proxy that connects to CS 1.6 game servers. It responds to server rcon say text commands, which enable automated recording of HLTV demos.
Click Here to download the Demonstration Movie (22.7MB) to understand how the Automated HLTV works.
What's the best way to use it? For matches, you should use the league-determined delay setting along with the maximum amount of spectators. For scrimmages, it is best to use 0 delay with 0 spectators, so that you do not have to wait for demos to finish recording, while no one can observe the scrimmages.
HLTV.SteamID.com Main Features
Automated HLTV Demo Recording
Record HLTV demos of important matches and scrimmages! With SteamID.com Automated HLTV, recording HLTV demos couldn't be easier.
There are several commands to automate demo recording. The hltv.start demoname command immediately starts recording an HLTV demo to demoname.dem. Then, hltv.stop is used to stop the currently recording demo. The demo is then compressed into a ZIP file, and is moved to a password-protected website that only your team can access for immediate downloading.
However, hltv.start is sometimes not enough. It is painful to fast-forward through pregame warmup activity in HLTV demos, which is why the hltv.lo3 demoname command was created. It works exactly like hltv.start, except that it immediately starts recording after it sees "LIVE ON THREE" in rcon say text. Simply put "say LIVE ON THREE" in your team's live-on-three script, then you are all set. When another team starts entering your server, simply run hltv.lo3 demoname and sit back and wait for them to finish joining the server. Then the HLTV demo will automatically start recording when you issue the live-on-three script to begin the scrimmage or match.
Also, sometimes after going live-on-three, a team will want to cancel the beginning of the scrimmage because someone has gone afk. If the HLTV demo has already started, then we can easily undo this situation since we don't want pregame action in the demo. Simply issue the hltv.cancel command, which will stop and delete the currently recording demo. Then use hltv.start or hltv.lo3 again to start another demo when the time is right.
But what if the server changes levels automatically, or at the end of the first half of a match? No problem. SteamID.com Automated HLTV automatically detects this and protects the demos that are recording, and even starts a new demo recording as soon as it is allowed to rejoin the server (after the specified delay time).
What if someone stops a demo too soon that has a delay of 3 minutes? No problem -- if the delay is n seconds, then the Automated HLTV will automatically wait n seconds before stopping the demo to ensure that everything is preserved in the final demo.
Ingame SteamID Matching in CAL Leagues
Want to make sure the team you're playing is legitimate? Quite possibly the most attractive feature of SteamID.com Automated HLTV is the automated SteamID lookups against the CAL database of SteamIDs. Issuing the hltv.steamid command issues a request to SteamID.com's database of CAL SteamIDs and checks each player in the server to see which teams they are registered for, and prints the results out in rcon say text inside the server.
Want to ease the pain of verifying SteamIDs before CAL matches? Want to make sure the scrimmage you're playing is really who they claim to be? Ingame lookups using the hltv.steamid command is the answer.

How does it work? We can automatically detect your team's upcoming matches to simplify the listing process! When you add the listing, it will appear on the matches.steamid.com front page! That's it!
Connect Automated HLTV to Opposing Team's Server
You can start the Automated HLTV with NO RCON PASSWORD! This means you can connect your Automated HLTV to ANY SERVER where you have the server password. This is very useful for playing one half of a match on someone else's server, then your own server.
If you start the Automated HLTV without an Rcon password, it will behave in a different manner than normal. First, it will start recording an HLTV demo immediately. Secondly, it will count the number of players that leave the server. When a total of 5 players have disconnected (the equivalent of one team leaving the server), the HLTV will automatically disconnect from the server as well. You will not have to worry about clicking the 'STOP' button after one half of a match is over. Lastly, it will obey normal commands but will be completely silent, as if hltv.mute had been performed on it.
HLTV Demo Archiving
Once a demo is stopped using the hltv.stop command, it is moved to a specific folder on a web server that is password-protected so that only the people you trust are allowed to download your demos -- instantly! Each demo is compressed into a ZIP file, that can be decompressed using programs such as WinRAR and WinZIP.
HLTV Demo Commenting
Ever record a demo and completely forget what it contains? The painful way to find out is to download, unzip, and watch the demo yourself.
OR, you can use HLTV Demo Commenting enabled in SteamID.com Automated HLTV! You can remember what the scores were, what rounds your favorite shots were in, team rosters, and more! Simply use the hltv.comment command followed by any amount of text to be inserted into a new line in the comment section in the ZIP file that will contain the demo. You can add as many comment lines as you want! When the ZIP file containing the demo is opened, you can view the comment immediately and remember what the scrimmage or match was like and instantly know what to look for in the demo.
For example: hltv.comment First Half 9-6 (and later), hltv.comment Second Half 10-5, hltv.comment Final Score: 19-11!, hltv.comment Watch the second round of the second half for pneumo's AWP shot!
HLTV Status Commands
It may be interesting to see how many people are spectating your match right before it begins, or to check the HLTV settings to make sure they are correct. The hltv.status command will print out the current number of spectators, the maximum number of spectators, the current delay setting, and if the Automated HLTV is currently recording to a demo.
If the HLTV delay setting is incorrect, it can be adjusted using the hltv.delay n command, where the delay setting is changed to n seconds.
